BISSELL Pet Foundation's Story
In 2008, Cathy Bissell adopted a black lab named Bear. He was given up at six years old because his family got a new puppy and didn't have time for him anymore. Cathy opened her heart and home to Bear, and he fit in perfectly with her other dogs and cat. Adopting Bear made a huge difference in Cathy's life, and she was inspired to help other pets like him find forever homes.
By 2011, Cathy Bissell founded the BISSELL Pet Foundation (BPF) as a natural extension of her love for animals and her dedication to their welfare. The foundation is committed to finding loving homes for homeless pets by reducing the number of animals in shelters and rescues. With the help of generous supporters and donations, BPF has awarded millions of dollars to a growing partner network of animal welfare organizations and impact the lives of pets in all 50 states and Canada.
